Tips to turn a bad day around!

Every now and again, like any other girl, I have really low days where the idea of even leaving the house can seem quite intimidating. With amounted stress from work, home and general life, I sometimes wish I could isolate myself in my own little cocoon, and wait for all my problems and concerns to go away all on their own. Of course in such occasions, we all want to be able to feel more relaxed and calm, but it can be difficult to know where to start. I however, have come up with a list of a few ideas that never fail to perk me up when I seem to be having one of those days - take note!

1- Have a bath - A hot bath is an instant stress fix! Add a few drops of your favourite body oil, and submerge yourself into that beautiful fragrant water and let the benefits of the oil work its magic on your skin - not only will this be a soothing experience, but also a great moisturising treatment. Another favourite of mine is of course, LUSH bath bombs! Dropping the bath bomb in the water is in itself very satisfying, but then watching it slowly fizz and disintegrate, and turn the clear water into a beautiful vibrant rainbow, is another gratifying "ooh, aah!" moment. Finally, don't forget the essentials! Candles, music and a face mask are a must have.

2 - Chamomile Tea - Chamomile tea is a must have in my household; it helps me to unwind from a rough day and relax into a state of relatively peaceful bliss. This calming tea acts as a mild sedative as well as an anti-anxiety agent, therefore ensuring a great night's sleep!

3 - Create a calm and comfortable environment - My bedroom is my restful sanctuary; I love to walk in and know that I will have a tranquil night's sleep (this can make all the difference between a good and bad day!). My first tip would be to de-clutter; I don't mind if a couple of things are out of place (they can be easily put away in the morning), but knowing that there is a huge pile of mess that needs sorting, makes me instantly anxious. By no means am I the most organised person (my friends and boyfriend can vouch for that!), but I have come a very long way from back in my Uni days when I used to skip along my bedroom floor to dodge the clutter and mounts of clothing on the floor (treading on your hairbrush is not at all relaxing!). Having a clean bedroom honestly makes all the difference!

My second tip is to change your bed linen. This is abit of a random one which I did wonder whether to include or not, but here it goes anyway: When I'm having a stressful/ low day, there is no better feeling than crawling into a set of freshly cleaned bed sheets! It is simply heavenly.

Finally don't forget about personal touches to create the perfect ambience; perfumed candles, plump pillows, fresh flowers and your favourite blanket to keep you warm.

4 - Pamper yourself - How about treating yourself to an at home manicure?  Or alternatively, and one of my  other old  favourites, apply a coconut oil hair mask! Why not do both? Reach out for your favourite face mask, that luxurious body moisturiser (because every day is a special occasion!) or your favourite Dior lipstick that cost you a week's supply of food but makes you feel like a million bucks!
Top off your pamper day with a lavish snacks tray in bed while you catch up on your favourite TV series!

5 - Unleash your creative side - Transfer your emotions to a piece of craft work; harness inspiration from your negative feelings and turn them into a positive - draw, paint, sculpt? In my case, I decided to write this blog post hoping that it could be helpful to someone else!

What did you think of today's post? What are your favourite way's to unwind when you're having a low day?

Lots of love, Ana

  6. Honestly, these are all such great tips. I've been having pretty bad days recently and have been trying to cope by sleeping in in my bedroom, but it hasn't been sufficient, I find. Perhaps it's the bed linen. Or maybe I'm missing a face mask. Either way, all great tips.

I hope you have a lovely day!

  13. Great tips and what lovely photos. I always love taking a bath when I need a bit of me time and a cheer up. Creating a calm and comforting environment is also so important. There is nothing like winding down in your room with a tea and fairy lights after a nice bath with some relaxing music.
