Let me set the scene for you:
After repeatedly hitting the snooze button, you look up at your alarm clock and regrettably realise that it is now a quarter past eight – panic strikes- you have just short of twenty minutes to be out of the house and dash to work. It is a rush against time! How will you manage to chow down your breakfast, shower and make yourself look somewhat presentable for your date later that evening with that fine-looking hunk from the gym? Will you be able to achieve the impossible?
Below is a list of tried and tested beauty hacks that are simply genius and have made a huge difference in speeding up my beauty regime. Ranging from hair to makeup, this list of shortcuts that I have put together will save you time, effort, but most importantly, your sanity!
Before heading to bed, spritz your hair with a texturizing spray and work it in using your hands, from top to bottom. Weave your hair into two tight braids (or four if you want more defined kinks), and sleep on it.
The following morning, undo the braids and run your fingers through the hair. For added volume, mist sea-salt spray and scrunch your hair. The final result will be beautiful, beachy, boho waves – very Vanessa Hudgens!
2. Eye makeup
When you have little time to play around with your makeup, mascara can act as double duty. Using an eyeliner brush, sweep it against a mascara wand and line your upper lash-line for a gorgeous, natural looking smokey eye.
3. Dry your nail-polish faster
When you have done a quick paint job but have no time to sit around and wait for the nails to dry, fill a basin with icy cold water, and soak your nails for approximately two minutes to help set the polish and dry the nails faster.
4. Dry Shampoo
Dry Shampoo is an absolute life saver when you need to control a greasy mane.
Divide your hair into small sections and spray the dry shampoo directly onto your roots, and massage it in using your fingertips. The oil will vanish before your eyes almost like magic! Alternatively, baby powder is just as efficient but be cautious not to leave any white powdery traces – specially if you have dark hair.
5. Help, no time to apply falsies!
Using a cotton swab, dab some translucent powder or baby powder over your eyelashes, in between mascara applications – powder, mascara, powder, mascara. This will make your lashes appear much longer and thicker - you may even scrap the falsies all together!
